pretty little purple thing

I had a little fun the other day with stamping and some tape. Yes i have a bunch of new stamping plates, and yes i used the very first one i ever got that everyone uses, Konad m57. a classic? sure, why not.

Base coas of Orly Charged Up, the perfect purple jelly :)

but wait, what's that over Charged Up, it's CND Sapphire Sparkle, ooh ahhh!!

Okay then I taped off my sections, slapped on some black nail polish,
and then stamped my little heart out.

You don't really need to know this, but for the sake of good blogging i will tell you that i was inspired by a certain item from victoria secret to do these patterns/colors together. there. i said it. please tell me you've done this before too!

PS. after i did my nails i realized i was out of acetone. so i went to buy some, and the store was all out. so this here is what you get when that happens. sorry for the mess!

PPS i'm selling some nail polish, among other things on ebay, check it out. fund my summer vacation.

Gloomy Joy Gets Happy!

It's been a gloomy week here in Greensboro Gloomsboro, NC. so I created a little spring on my fingernails. i was inspired by this look from Kahtreenahh's tumblr.

Excuse the fact that is my instagram pic, but it gets the point across!

OPI Pink Friday, SH Lavender Cloud, Zoya  Marley, Barry M Mint Green, Orly Flirty.

I used Flirty on my first attempt at little flowers, which turned out looking more like jelly beans, but hey, it's cool!

The dots are from a stamping plate, which is sooo much easier than using a dotting tool!
But also, you can see on my thumb the drawbacks to stamping instead of using dotting tools, the design gets cut off on wider nails. :]
I suppose you could use the stamp as a guide for where to put your dots, yes!

Hope you enjoy a little taste of spring...!

Valentines Day Fun - Part 1

You know it's coming. There's nothing you can do about it. Single, or taken, Valentines Day wants to get into your personal space and make you feel warm and fuzzy. Don't blame me, blame a baby with wings, shooting love arrows. I'm getting started early on Valentines Day nail art because it's a good excuse to wear hot pink on your nails in the middle of winter. Enjoy! <3 <3 <3

I've always wanted to do a double stamp, and i finally did with the two hearts,
I love the way it looks!

The holographic glitters in the Barry M polish really stand out in this pic,
it also has great magenta colored rectangles.

Thumb has a diagonal swept shatter coat on it. fun fun!

Hearts right side up!

From the Nicki Minaj OPI collection I bring you Pink Friday as my base color. LOVE it. Stamps were done in DS Reflection and DS Extravagance. Super Bass Shatter was used over two nails, and lastly Barry M rectangular glitter.
[sorry, i can't think of the name of that one right
now and it's not showing up on their site.]

NOW GET TO FEELIN' THE LOVE!

31 day challenge: metallic

Day 8: Metallic nails! Guess who only has 1 true metallic polish!!! This girl.
and i'm not even 100% sure Light a Candle counts. lets take a look...
What I used: Nicole OPI Light a Candle, Essence 35 Movie Star

Blamo! stamping extravaganza! this my favorite stamp off of this plate - Konad m73
Do note how wonderfully-beautifully (yes that's a word) LaC stamps.
it's a one coater when not stamping.

 Happy Stamps

I wish i would have done this mani reverse of how i did it,
but i wanted to paint most of my nails with a base of LaC since it was the metallic polish.
I think LaC is put to better use when being stamped, instead of the stampee.
does that make any sense?

what i'm getting at is that Light a Candle is far the best stamping polish i have. hands down.

Purple Gradient + Stamping!

This weeks PAA monday nail art challenge was "creative layering". I started out thinking, "glitter sandwich!!!" but after a few test nails, it was clear that just wasn't going to happen for me. at least not happen and look good.

So here's what i came up with, a gradient, starting with Barry M Berry Ice Cream. (one of my all time favorite colors btw) then using the sponging technique i added a layer of some random mid range purple and finished it all off with a layer of Sally Hensen 08 Deep Purple.
Then I did a little stamping with konad  plate m57.
My nails were looking very layered, and I just couldn't stand to have a gradient, leopard print stamping, and super glossy nails... so i matteified? mattyfied? MATTIEFIED it!
i love the results! (and i don't even like leopard print O_o)

Berry Ice Cream

white dots from the matte topcoat, eventually went away

index finger is an odd shape due to a freak x-acto knife accident at work...

i really love that purple....<3

PS. all of your comments on my giveaway (which is still going on) are hilarious! i have awesome readers :D

Konad stamp - m73 and 57 over Haute as Hello

Not an entirely original idea, i saw it here and thought it was super cute and  i've been wanting to try. I just got a new image plate, Konda m73, and thought it would be a good way to try them out. I need a thicker white, mine is super cheap and doesn't show up well at all for stamping. but oh well, sometimes subtle is better. :) see that purple stripe on my index finger? see below for explanation. :(

So far i only have 2 konda plates, i really enjoy them when i use them, but i haven't used them to their full extent just yet. How many nail stamping plates do you have?

ps. my fingers are really dry and funny looking in these pics, i had been using pure acetone to remove my nail polish and it was really starting to mess up my skin. i recently got a new remover from Sally's with wheat protein and vitamin E,  hopefully that will help me out.

Left hand - remember kids, always clean off your stamper and plate before use, even if they look clean, or you'll end up with a stupid purple stripe on your nail like auntie joy. :(
