Spring is in the air... and on my nails!

It's spring! and there's nothing you can do about it! i'm shouting it from the rooftops! and by rooftops i mean my nails. cause let's face it, i don't shout anything.

Here's a little background on this mani. Whenever I don't have leopard print on my nails, I want leopard print on my nails. and whenever I do have leopard print on my nails, I like it that way, and I'm happy all day long. DEAL WITH IT.

So this is my RIGHT hand, meaning, yes, I have acquired the skills to paint leopard print with my non dominate hand. pure talent right there. (jk, painting weird squiggly lines is my left hands specialty)

fun fun fun fun. I painted my left hand with more muted/dusty colors. and I like it better. maybe.
I added a matte topcoat to all of these of course! with such dainty little colors, they looked weird glossy... they were just asking to be mattified. ("oh pleeease, Joy! make us matte! we promise we'll look good, you don't need to smother us in Out The Door to hide our flaws!") or something like that...

Okay, that was my quick little nail update. back to packing, moving, and general polish scheming.  (i'm working on making my very first franken polish. but it's adding up to be quiet the investment...)

Gloomy Joy Gets Happy!

It's been a gloomy week here in Greensboro Gloomsboro, NC. so I created a little spring on my fingernails. i was inspired by this look from Kahtreenahh's tumblr.

Excuse the fact that is my instagram pic, but it gets the point across!

OPI Pink Friday, SH Lavender Cloud, Zoya  Marley, Barry M Mint Green, Orly Flirty.

I used Flirty on my first attempt at little flowers, which turned out looking more like jelly beans, but hey, it's cool!

The dots are from a stamping plate, which is sooo much easier than using a dotting tool!
But also, you can see on my thumb the drawbacks to stamping instead of using dotting tools, the design gets cut off on wider nails. :]
I suppose you could use the stamp as a guide for where to put your dots, yes!

Hope you enjoy a little taste of spring...!

Christmas Leopard is on the hunt...

...For presents!

I'm short on time today, lots of xmas stuff to get done.
BUT I did paint my nails, please see below!

OPI Skull and Glossbones, SH Black Out, Sinful Color Envy,
Butter London Come to Bed Red.

OPI's S&G is my favorite white alternative. it's not as stark as white, and personally white polish ALWAYS CHIPS on my nails. just don't like it :/

I used my smallest dotting tool for the black parts, and a medium sized one (about ball point pen sized) for the colored dots. yay!

I want to mention that i was inspired by this mani from Victoriac. Thanks for the inspiration! :D

Well, I hope you enjoyed this one! I'm feeling even more festive than before, but I can't wait to do some new years nails!!! can you say glitter bomb?!!

Most Festive Green?

Festive Green! that's today's theme... more from the 31 day Christmas challenge

My most festive/christmasy green is Emerald City by Revlon. it's a Matte/Suede polish and the finish is beautiful! here's a little secret, this is the first time i've worn it, i got it for 99 cents on black friday. what up cheap nail polish!

i wasn't really sure if i should do any art with green.. or just green. but here's a quick swatch of Emerald City by itself, and then i added glitter...!!!

pretty pretty pretty. here is a rare glance at my right hand. the nails on my right hand are super long compared to my nubbins left hand. so i thought i'd show it off.

glitter gradient featuring Sinful Colors Nail Junkie. funny name for a nail polish. :/

double secret, this is the first time i've used Nail Junkie too. what the heeeeckkkkk... i quit counting my un-tried nail polishes. i know it's a high number, but i'm trying to use them! i am!

so that's day 9... Thanks for looking!

31 Day Challenge: Inspired by artwork

Day 26: Inspired by artwork! I was actually supposed to do inspired by a pattern today, but i mixed up the days, so today is artwork day! it just so happens that there is an artist in my family. My brother-in-law Erik does paintings all the time, and most recently he painted a piece that is my new favorite. so i was inspired by that!

Painting by Erik Nance.

What I used: Sinful Colors Dream On, Essie Turquoise & Caicos, Essie Going Incognito, LA Colors art brushes black and white.

I love Turquoise and Caicos! I just got it in the mail today from Lacquered Me

HEHE i love the touch of purple. Nice.

My nails W/ the painting.

So what do you think of the art, what do you think of the nail art?! i really like the painting! it was a lot of fun to translate into nail art. it's not every day you get to try something like this on nails. I went to a local coffee/bakery in my town and received some compliments on my nails, so that was nice to know that even having no idea WHY i had these strange shapes/colors and one purple spot on my nails, they still looked cool. maybe my brother in law should get into the nail art business :P just kidding.

31 day challenge: Flowers

Day 14: Flowers! Well i've made it to day 14, two weeks! I had two options for flowers, freehand or konad stamp. i only have one plate with a flower on it, so i decided to try freehand.
What I used: Sally Hansen Black Out, Kleancolor Pastel Pink,
Orly Flirty, Sinful Colors Happy Ending.

Since I have never done freehand flowers before I used  Rebecca Likes Nails tutorial which was great to go by, i highly recomend!

I did a black background so it would have the 90's floral print dress look
(that is sadly back in style, oh my)

90's it up!

Hi Orly!

close up!

These were really fun to do! even though i don't have the BEST nail art brushes
(i have old art brushes i found laying around my house) i made it work, and it turned out just fine!

i would love to try them a little bigger so you can really tell what they are from a far, instead of looking like weird, pink jelly bean polka dots...right?

Thanks for reading, readers! <333

PS. I'll be posting my next giveaway later today. here's a hint...
On The Prowl, and glow in the dark!!!

31 day challenge: Green

Day 4: Green nails! boo hoo hoo! it's so sad to me that i have over 100 polishes now, and only 1 pitiful little green that i purposefully bought because i knew i didn't have any green polish.
This color really does remind me of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
What i used: Sinful Colors Happy Ending  and Nubar 2010

Dance! my flakies, dance!

i've always avoided green nails because all i can think of is that
someone will ask me if i have some sort of nail fungus. sorry green. :[

Nubar 2010 is so lovely. sometimes it's yellow, sometimes green, orange, red? yes!

So there we have it. Green. Lets be honest, how many greens are in your collection?
and teals do NOT count :P
