UNICORN MAGIC

"UNICORN FREAKING MAGIC!" was what i started thinking when i sat down to do my nails...Today's challenge from PCF spring challenge.
Slowly but surely i went through all my glitter, and picked out the best unicorn ones. then i picked out a pale pink, you know, cause that's what color unicorns are. then i thought, what if i did a chevron, that's sort of a unicorn horn shape? and I SORT OF forgot to add the glitter. (how do you forget about the glitter?!) but it's still magical to me. enjoy the fun....!

pretty little purple thing

I had a little fun the other day with stamping and some tape. Yes i have a bunch of new stamping plates, and yes i used the very first one i ever got that everyone uses, Konad m57. a classic? sure, why not.

Base coas of Orly Charged Up, the perfect purple jelly :)

but wait, what's that over Charged Up, it's CND Sapphire Sparkle, ooh ahhh!!

Okay then I taped off my sections, slapped on some black nail polish,
and then stamped my little heart out.

You don't really need to know this, but for the sake of good blogging i will tell you that i was inspired by a certain item from victoria secret to do these patterns/colors together. there. i said it. please tell me you've done this before too!

PS. after i did my nails i realized i was out of acetone. so i went to buy some, and the store was all out. so this here is what you get when that happens. sorry for the mess!

PPS i'm selling some nail polish, among other things on ebay, check it out. fund my summer vacation.

31 Day Nail Challenge: inspired by a song

Day 22: Inspired by a song. This is one of my favorite videos, and a really great song! i love all the bright colors shapes, and movement. Because of all the gradient in color i knew i wanted to use sponging. and because of all the crisp lines i knew i also needed to use tape.

What I used: Julep Cameron, Nabi Lavender, CC Red-ical Gypsy (har har), CC New Bohemian, Essence Chuck, Essence Mellow Yellow, Sally girl white.
Ring finger sorta looks like boba fett.

Silly me. i had ran out of tape...and things got... complicated.

But i made the most of it!

I think the pointer and pinky are my favorites.

I am totally and completely disappointed in myself on this one. :( i redid my middle finger about 6 times, and by the last time it was approaching 11 pm, and i was like "screw it!" Sorry. but... manicures shouldn't take 5 hours. (there was a trip to Target (Bubble wrap!) somewhere in there, but i know that only took half hour.)

31 Day Challenge: Inspired by a color

Day 21: Inspired by a color! Today is sort of a funny day, i was inspired by a color, but inspired to do fancy, party, birthday nails, in this color! ...because it's my birthday weekend!!! My friend Lauren and I share the same birthday, 4 years apart, but still the same day. So she came to my house and we painted our nails to match each other! We were both inspired to do blue and gold.

Lauren's Nails:

What Lauren used: Butter London Big Smoke, China Glaze Gr8, Milani Gems Gold, Sally Hansen Set The Stage.

Both hands! we did it kinda random, but they still match.

i love the little laser/star burst things we did. my first time trying that look.

My Nails:
What I used: Essence Chuck, China Glaze Gr8, Milani Gems Gold, Sally Hansen Set The Stage.

SO there you have it! Due to.. birthday...partying... i will resume the challenge on Monday;)

PS!!! if you read my post about the OTHER 30 day challenge please note that i found the original owner of that list, and i'm updating that post to link back to her, but her blog is the sugar cube! check her out!!!!

31 day challenge: Gradient

Day 10: Gradient Nails! mhm mhm! I got my Nail Mail from Germany just in time. it included two sets of the Essence nail art twins. One of the sets being bella and edward (love the nail polish, hate the movie/book/whatever). i was super tempted to use Edward (the glitter) as an accent nail...but this mani is about gradients, not glitters. SO i stayed strong :P
What i used: KleanColor 142 Pastel Teal, Ulta Mint Condition, Essence 06 Bella.
Has anyone else noticed that Kleancolors dry incredibly slow!?? i've never used them for a tape mani so i never really paid attention, but, it took at least an hour to not leave fingerprints.

So my base color was the Pastel Teal, then i did a half moon mani over it with Mint Condition.
Then i taped off the rest of the nails, and did the tips/ other 3rd of the nail in Bella.

Sometimes i wonder if there are some smaller circle stickers out there
to use for the half moons.

my pinky is so narrow you almost don't see the curved shape from the sticker.

So normally when i paint my nails i leave a window open, and put a fan in the window to blow some fresh air in. well this weekend a cold front blew through NC, (highs in the 50's) and let me just say that if this is an indication of what's to come this winter, i'm going to be doing my nails in a winter coat, and fingerless gloves! BRRR!!!

Thanks for reading!

first attempt at laser mani

So, as not to waste the Butter London polish on my nails, i decided to do a laser over it once it started to show some wear. Now, i know better than to not cut all my tape strips ahead of time, but for some reason i reused the same few pieces of tape for each nail. terrible, terrible, bad idea. anyway, it still blows my mind, it looks awesome enough. i'll be doing more of these laser/tape manis. WITH MORE TAPE!

Patchwork Mani from Chloe's Nails

Here's my attempt at the Patchwork mani from Chloe's Nails tutorial. I really should have taken my time on this one, making sure the nails were dry so i could push the tape down more securly! My colors are slightly different, but i still like it. :) I need some of that Seche Vite top coat. Seriously.
