New polishes! Color club + Blush

My sister Paige and I ventured to Ross today in search of Color Club and Blush (Disco Diva set) after seeing it on Another bottle of Polish i just HAD to have it, and i found it, for 3.99!

Color Club starry temptress 7.99 at Ross, found it next door at TJ maxx for 5.99. oh well!

Disco Diva by Blush (3.99) and Metallic Collection (2.99 but they actually just looks like glitters)

i couldn't find a name on this one, but it was .99 cents so i got it.
it's a pretty silver/purple/grey/ with some sparkles.

EDIT: upon further research i think that last color club is Ms. Haute. :D

Purple Gradient + Stamping!

This weeks PAA monday nail art challenge was "creative layering". I started out thinking, "glitter sandwich!!!" but after a few test nails, it was clear that just wasn't going to happen for me. at least not happen and look good.

So here's what i came up with, a gradient, starting with Barry M Berry Ice Cream. (one of my all time favorite colors btw) then using the sponging technique i added a layer of some random mid range purple and finished it all off with a layer of Sally Hensen 08 Deep Purple.
Then I did a little stamping with konad  plate m57.
My nails were looking very layered, and I just couldn't stand to have a gradient, leopard print stamping, and super glossy nails... so i matteified? mattyfied? MATTIEFIED it!
i love the results! (and i don't even like leopard print O_o)

Berry Ice Cream

white dots from the matte topcoat, eventually went away

index finger is an odd shape due to a freak x-acto knife accident at work...

i really love that purple....<3

PS. all of your comments on my giveaway (which is still going on) are hilarious! i have awesome readers :D

Julep Maven box

I'm sure by now everyone has heard of Juelp, and their Maven program.
I signed up aug 12th and received by box aug 18th.

So here's my Julep box!
this is a bag, in a box. I got the "american beauty" style.

3 polishes (8 mL each), two samples, and a full bottle of hand scrub, works really well!

From L- R
Alfre, a silver/purple/metalic, and Cameron, what i consider to be the perfect pink!
Also the third one is a conditioning base coat called Nail Therapy,
I'm super excited about the base coat, I needed it!
(before you become a maven, you take a style quiz and it asks you the condition of you nails and hands, that's how they decide what to send)

I've already used the base coat several times, and it goes on very well, dries fast.
I used the pink, Cameron, and it goes on just as nice as my Butter London polish.

The box is a $40 value, normally you pay $19 per month, and it's delivered to your door. I used a special coupon and got all this for $4.99 including shipping.
Even if you only want to try it once it's a great deal!
Here's the coupon i used (smh9oxu), hopefully it still works for you. :D

P.S. I'm told you can cancel at anytime, but i haven't been able to find that on their site, any help?

Icing - starlight

it's got holographic glitters

this was 4 coats, two thin, two thick. i think this would be better as a top coat on a nice dark blue.

Nail party!!!!

This past Friday night I invited over a few of my best girly girl friends and we had a little 'nail party'.
we all picked our colors, did a little paraffin treatment, pushed back our cuticles and went for it!! since it was at night, the pictures are a little dark, but here's what we ended up with!

Lauren's gold sponge and glitter over essie (i forgot the name!)

Katy's Newspaper print. harder than i thought it would be to get the ink to transfer.

Carly's halfmoon mani. it looked so fancy!

My polka dots! i kept messing mine up, but they turned out! that's my new julep pink.

Megan's free style teals with purple glitter.

Paige's blue nails with cat accent nail, painted by me.

We had lots of fun, and i will probably have a second one soon! have you ever thrown a nail party, or attended one? what all did you do?

giveaway - sinful colors

Courtney over at Nails by Courtney, is having a Sinful colors Giveaway! Go check it out! :D

Barry M turquoise and Girl Flower

happy sunday!

Last week my Barry M polishes that i ordered june 26th finally arrived. one of those was Turquoise #295. The application is everything i was hoping it would be and the color is beautiful! although more blue than turquoise to me, it's still really nice!

My sister paige used some sally hansen salon effects a few months ago and had some leftover, so i used those with this manicure, just for something fun. i actually like the sally hansen brand stickers. the only thing i don't like is that it looks like they were printed on a printer that was running out of ink. what is your favorite brand of nail stickers?

no top coat on any of these

self timer is fuuuun. :P

Thanks for reading :)

glitter sammy - trial and some error!

my first attempt at a glitter sandwich, and the ever popular glitter in the air recreation idea. Here we go!

kleancolors pastel blue with party of five over it. (if you click though to the big image you can see where i smudged my thumb. oops!)

kleancolors pastel blue with party of five and starry silver glitter over it
(for some extra sparkles, ya know, tiny ones!)

everything i used, except i left out nicole sheer fun. that's what i put on top, for the sandwich!

with Sheer Fun over everything, one matte finger, ring finger. i ended up doing them all matte, bleh.

i tried nyc Scandalous Blue Glitter over these, and i actually like the look, in person.
i put milani cyberspace over my index finger, but that didn't look very good!

All in all i don't know if i even liked the look i was trying to recreate. i've heard it described as moldy milk or something by one blogger, and the more i look at it the more i agree.

but i DO like the sandwiching. must try more sammys!

Thanks for looking :D

today's silly little mani

Since i am without a working big girl camera for the moment, i haven't been doing anything too impressive. I was off work this morning, and decided try a pink neon (it looks red in the pics) from Sally's, that i've never used! (mostly because it's my sisters tee hee) THEN, i wanted to practice some with my new black nail art brush. and this is the result my friends!

Thanks for reading! Big girl posts soon, batteries are on the way! :D
